Lokie has renal failure. I brought her home so my daughter can come home from college tonight and say goodbye. Tomorrow we go back to the vet so she can be put to sleep.
:(
Very sad day in the Aimless house.

Awww, at least she gets goodbye. Everyone gets goodbye. That's a good thing. Poor baby.
I'll be thinking of you guys!
Hugs! I know how pets can be part of the family.
Oh God, I am WEEPING. Aimless . . . lots of love to you and yours. LOTS of prayers. LOTS.

P.S. As a Buddhist, I have to believe Lokie will be reborn as someone special in your life. Watch for her.
Ohh, I'm so sorry. I'm glad your family was able to be together.
damn that's sad... just like losing family :(
(((Thinking of you)))
Stopping in to say hi and send you hugs, Aimless.

Thanks everyone. This was incredibly hard. I'm still weepy and my heart is breaking. Your kind words mean a lot.
Erica,
I believe she will come back to me too. I told her to find me when she returns so we can be together again. We lost one of our cats this past summer too. I've been watching for her. I know when I look in her eyes I will recognise her.
Such a hard year.
I'm sorry to hear this. My kitty died November 8 last year.
I stopped by after reading your post about wanting to write from the dogs point of view.
To that I say why not - I think when writers start to write that which they hope or think will sell then they start to lose themselves in the process rather than enjoying the writing.
I think it sounds like a fun story . .. although I'd prefer the cat point of view ;-)
Again, I'm sorry to hear about your dog . . . I know the pain you feel.
Oh dear, I just saw further down that you also lost a cat.
when my cat - Precious - died last year I fostered 4 feral kittens with the plan that we'd keep 2, well, we kept all four! There is a photo of them on my blog home page. They're my babies.
Have you heard of Rainbow bridge? It didn't really do much for me, but others seem to appreciate it.
