My Theory on World Peace

My theory:
I believe world peace will come to the earth when all races of the world are blended. When all the children can grow up and say they are part of every race then I believe all the fear and anger will subside and everyone will live in peace (at last).
Its like our little world has some growing to do. And with age comes knowledge and acceptance. When we are all truly blended- what's to fight about?
Forty years ago interracial marriage (meaning every race) was nearly unheard of or at least hidden.
Thirty years ago is was shocking.
Twenty years ago it was merely a curiosity.
Ten years ago? Nothing special. (Okay, I'm in the northeast and I know some of the more southern states haven't made it quiet so far yet.)
Today? No one cares as long as they are good neighbors.
So when we are all blended....Acceptance.

Hi Aimless:
Beautifully put. I wish it was this way already. I live in the South, and have to say we are NOT there yet. As a New Yorker living here, I am shocked again and again at the waves of intolerance . . . My kids are Mexican-American. With the current anti-immigration attitudes in this country, they continually hear unkind things said about Mexicans--not on POLICY, but the PEOPLE themselves. Which happen to my children's people. It's very sad,

The immigration issues get me too. Our country was created by immigrants! My grandparents were all off the boat. I think anyone living and working in the USA should be given a pass.
So, if people are anti-immigration then tell them to go back to wherever their family came from. Because if they are not native Americans then their families were once immigrants too.
Yikes! Don't get me started. lol
Its like walking into a different world when we go down south.

should work... unfortunately this polluted planet will wipe out all but a few vestiges of humanity, survivors will be mutants, with lifespans of perhaps 10 - 15 years :(

Just watching Melanie deal with immigration issues breaks my heart. And immigration irritates me.

I mean, hello!, we are only 200 years old! We are young. We are all immigrants!

Although I am part Native American, LOL.

It's a complicated issue, but I don't think the system we have now is the best we can do.

Interesting to see the posts. Because that is how I feel . . . I know my own family has some members just ONE generation back fresh to the U.S., maybe two.

Just this week, Baby Girl was told on the bus "Obama wants to raise taxes so he can give all our money to the stupid Mexicans." Because Baby Girl is the palest of my children and looks less Hispanic (and has blue eyes), young kids are too young to understand her first AND last name are VERY Hispanic. My kids have the Hispanic last name equivalent of "Smith." So what's painful . . . is she hears it all because kids assume she's "one of them" based on her appearance. On the flip side, I tell her to be grateful she hears such things because then she knows who the racists are and can avoid them--most people hide their prejudices. But there are times I am very ashamed of the human race . . . and what my kids sometimes hear . . . those are times when I think people are so utterly disappointing.

Spy,
If you're part native American then you get to stay. The rest of us...
:)

Erica,
I feel for your kids! Especially living south of ...well...New Jersey? Maybe Washington? They have to know the world matures at different rates. They are way ahead of the pack as they have a better view of the world than those who let themselves be trapped by their bigotry.
Some of the views going on in the south were up here 20-30 years ago. We've moved passed and hopefully they will catch up quickly.

Now if we could just get those southern states to vote democratic...

I was thinking about the Native Americans when I clicked over to the comments, and there's Spy making the argument!

I agree with all the points made here. I won't rehash, but it does suck that Erica's kids have to learn these lessons so early. I'm doing my best to integrate the population. ;)

perhaps, but dunno what your diet would be :(

Personally I think at least in terms of physical beauty, mixed race children tend to be the most attractive. I mean holy crap look at Halle Berry, those are some good genetics.

By contrast, look at the royal family in England, where not only are they not mixing races, they aren't even mixing blood lines.

The more genetic variety that gets blended the better it is, IMO. The idea of "pure races" is an idiotic idea that results in racism and inbreeding.

Though even after everybody is a big genetic blend, we'll still have politics and religion to argue about.

In the dog world when breeds of dogs intermingle and produce puppies these puppies usually have the best genes from both breeds. Like if a dog with bad hips mates with a breed of dog with skin issues most likely the puppies will have neither problem. Its like they genetically take the best genes and leave the problem ones. Mutts are generally the healthiest of the dog world.
Wouldn't that be nice if it were true for people too?
Maybe its a message....

Last Day of NANOWRIMO --- Oh No!

Where did the month go?  Certainly not on the page. I have an outline, some character sketches but mostly I have a lot of research notes.  ...
